“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately….I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear.”
– Henry David Thoreau (1854)
Sometimes we reach a point in our lives when we feel that we have lost our way, we don’t know which path to take and we can’t see the wood for the trees. But the woods doesn’t necessarily have to be a place of darkness and uncertainty. The transcendentalist Thoreau went to the woods to experience life and to discover its essential facts.
At Bluewood Counselling I recognise how easy it is to sometimes get lost in the woods where life’s challenges may seem too overwhelming. Thoreau went to the woods alone but you don’t have to.
Bluewood Counselling offers a supportive, containing and safe environment to help you explore your circumstances, both in the present and the past, and to help you draw strength to find your own, unique path.
The rationale behind Bluewood Counselling is for us to work together to look beneath the bark, the skin that has protected you, and explore the layers of coping mechanisms that have helped you manage life to this point. In so doing we hope to discover the true you, the you at your core.
Essentially, my aim is to help you get back to you.
